Felt challenged by
Inositol. She has been hibernating for months and suddenly she appears out of the blue with that short, sweet entry of hers. If Inositol can do it, so can I.
Now that I have just finished packing for our Johor Bahru trip tomorrow, I thought I might as well have a short entry...hopefully to be surprised with comments from my "peminat-peminat setia"......agaknya masih ada lagi ke yang tinggal??? We'll be in J.B. for three nights and we're going to the same hotel. Both Pycno and me are old faithfuls. If we like a certain place, we will continue going there, over and over again. In Johor Bahru, it would be Eden Garden Hotel at Stulang Laut.
We like Eden Garden for a number of reasons, inter alia, the duty free shops and the reasonably good food court. The only drawback at the food court is that, we are bound to see so many Malay youths who will buy six-pack Carlsberg, Heineken or Tiger from the duty-free shops, and would be gulping away the liquor, and smoking cigarettes like nobody's business. However, we have other choice in so far as the food is concerned. There are also lots of 'gerai makan berderet' just outside the Hotel. On festive seasons such as Christmas, New Year, Hari Raya and Chinese New Year, the hotel would have lots of activities at the shopping complex itself.
I can just leave my children to roam at the shopping complex all by themselves, being chaperoned, of course, by the elder brothers and sister, while me and Pycno can do our own shopping uninterrupted....not that we do much of shopping really. It's more of window shopping, but the sheer pleasure of lazily browsing through items on sale, and if we felt tired, to know that we could just take the lift back to our hotel rooms and rest our aching feet, is simply a pleasure.
Pycno is not too keen on packing, so usually I would be the one doing all that for me and the children. Do you enjoy packing for trips? I usually would end up packing more than I need. Pycno will not allow anybody to do the packing for him. He is particular of his holiday clothes. He would always have his favourite tees and khakis, worn only on trips and holidays. I'm not complaining here, for I tend to forget this and that. So, with him doing the packing of his clothes on his own, he has nobody else to blame except himself, kalau tertinggal apa-apa.
One of my children is not following us on this trip, despite it being specially planned and arranged for him, to coincide with his break. Tak apa lah, orang dah besar. Not that I mind that much, but I just cant help but to feel a little sad that I'm no longer able to have a family get-together. Pycno and me...we both can be so very busy sometime (in fact most of the time), but the one thing that we would always have and find time would be for the children. It's for that reason that I'm saddened that the children are beginning 'not to find time for us.'
It is not easy raising children in big city Kuala Lumpur. It is for that very reason, that Pycno and me, try as much as possible to be not just their parents, but their friends as well. It is also for that very reason, that we would try to make friends even with their friends. Sometimes, we are more successful making friends with their friends, than with them. Sedih kan??
Ah well, I'm not going to let anybody spoil my holiday. I promise myself that I'm going to have a good holiday......so Johor Bahru....here we come!!!!
Ada sesiapa nak ikut???? I have one more vacancy......

I was brought in JB in my primary years but after I left it, my returning to it has been scarce. The last time I was there which was about 10 yrs ago, the city has totally changed into a full-blown cosmopolitan. Frankly, I prefered what it was before, quiet, laid-back and friendly, free of the hustle and bustle of city-madness. I used to live in a government quarters at Bukit Chagar (look out for it if you happen to pass thru, if it's still there). AN earlier house was a semi-d double story in Jln Wijaya, Century Gdn. ANd if you happen to see my old alma mater, SIGS, say hi to it!
You still have few more hrs before you go. I pray to Allah swt that particular son of yours will yield in to your request. As I always say to my children, 'we've got not much time together so whenever we get the opportunity, savor it fully!"
Selamat jalan. Have a safe journey!
Nak ikut! Heheh..
I'm not really surprised reading about Pycnogenol being picky about his clothes.. he DID mention this trait of his in his blog before (am I right, Pycnogenol?). My dad doesn't really do his packing.. it's always my mom.. but of course he'll check them out and see if he needs anything extra.. But for one thing, my dad ALWAYS ensure that we bring things like handphone charger, extension wire, all that kind of technical stuff that we intend to forget.. heheh..
Have a safe journey!!
What Bea and DrRoza said are very true. But sometimes us children can only appreciate this when they are far away from family... insyaAllah this appreciation will manifest itself more as the children get older. As for me I can't wait to get back home so that we can be together (and I get to do girly stuff with my mom hehehehe!)
Bea, tak payah nak tunggu-tunggu lagi lah. Dah orang tak sudi, apakan daya........You have me kan? Tadi Pycno tolong pilih-pilih kain lagi kat Tangkak. Mana nak cari hubby yang macam tu. Ramai nya tak kuasa nak melayan.
Tadi, we had late lunch at the food court, and true enough as Bea has described in her entry....MasyaAllah ramai nya budak-budak Melayu 'gulping away liquor' sampai merah-merah muka.
Alahai...kesian nya Bea. But you should be happy and proud of yourself to be able to post an entry, just before leaving for J.B., or is the entry, a message of sorts...*chuckling and chortling away here*
Have a good break dear....you deserve that!!!
I am sure her husband is not as wonderful as your is!
iFos: I share your sentiments on the last-minute packing :P
nice..
